The Secret Songwriter
Welcome to Tuscany and Allegra’s world, where her story unfolds through the novel and its companion album of original songs.

Read the story. Hear the songs.
The album brings to life the songs written by Allegra Vinelli, the character at the heart of this story.
Written, arranged, recorded and performed by Anita Boole, they allow you to hear Allegra’s songs as you experience them in the novel.
In a quiet piazza, within a heartfelt letter, lies a restless beating song.
The Story

What if the thing that helped you heal was the very thing that began to unravel your life?
Following the death of her mother, Allegra Vinelli withdraws from London to a quiet Tuscan piazza, determined to disappear.
With crushed ambitions of becoming a songwriter, she sets about rebuilding her life away from the world she’s left behind – including her belittling ex, rock heartthrob Sebastian Seymour.
When heartfelt letters mysteriously find their way to her, something stirs in her and she begins to write songs again. But her private, cathartic act of writing songs for strangers and delivering them anonymously begins to take on a life of its own.
Just as Allegra begins to find a new sense of belonging and the possibility of love, her carefully guarded identity is threatened, putting the life she’s begun to build at risk.
If only she could stop herself.

A story of grief, love, and finding our way back to who we truly are – sometimes despite ourselves!
